Prophy Jet – A prophy jet is an alternative to the traditional rubber cup polisher that contains abrasive paste to clean your teeth. The prophy jet sprays high-pressured water to blast away soft deposits such as plaque and the baking soda acts as pumice to clean off extrinsic tooth stains caused by foods, drinks or smoking. The prophy jet does not damage enamel.
Piezo Ultrasonic Scaler – Piezo ultrasonic scalers allow plaque and tartar to be removed quickly and easily from the tooth surface without as much “scraping” of the tooth with a metal scaler. It allows more comfort for the patient during their cleaning appointment. The piezo scaler distributes ultrasonic vibrations to blast tartar off the teeth. Water flows out of the tip’s end to wash away debris and keep the scaler from overheating. The piezo ultrasonic scaler is an excellent option if you have a large buildup of tartar or periodontal disease. Over time, the bacteria and plaque in your mouth form hard deposits of tartar on your teeth and gums leading to tooth decay and loss if left untreated. Unfortunately, your toothbrush isn’t going to help once tartar has formed – only a dentist or dental hygienist can remove calculus from your teeth.
Galileos – In a matter of seconds, our Galileos Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanner captures 150-200 images from a variety of angles. The data captured is used to reconstruct a 3D image of your teeth, mouth, jaw, neck, ears, nose, and throat. Compared to standard x-rays, this cutting edge technology is a much more detailed and effective method of capturing information about your dental health. CBCT technology also uses less radiation and requires fewer scans to see the different views and angles of your mouth. Plus, unlike traditional dental x-rays, the cone beam CT scan can show both bones and soft tissues. This information is pertinent to your overall health to determine whether abnormal growths or other dental or medical conditions exist – especially those that aren’t evident from a traditional two-dimensional x-ray.
Digital Radiographs – With digital radiography the x-ray process is computerized. We place a sensor next to your tooth and within seconds your x-ray is displayed in sharp, vivid detail on a computer screen. Because of this short exposure time, the amount of radiation is reduced by as much as 90 percent. Once the x-ray image is on our computer screen, we can enhance it to make a more precise diagnosis. We can save images on our computer for instant retrieval, and once they’re digitized, we can easily send them to insurance companies or specialists as needed.
Intraoral Camera – The intraoral camera is a small camera that allows the dentist or hygienist to take clear pictures of all the teeth in the mouth and allows dental conditions to be pointed out to the patient on a TV screen that is positioned over their head. The intraoral camera allows the hygienist/assistant to gather a baseline of data about the patients’ teeth. It allows the dentist to see small cracks in teeth from amalgam restorations, dental decay and to document wear from bruxing/grinding.
CEREC – CEREC is a chairside milling solution that can produce single-unit restorations, including crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers in a single visit. The benefits of CEREC include:
Laser Dentistry – Laser dentistry enables the doctors and hygienists to manage soft tissue procedures, which are generally more predictable reducing patient post-op pain and discomfort. Laser treatment is less invasive than the traditional scalpel and therefore generates less bleeding during procedures and produces a reduction in the need for suturing.
Diagnodent – A Diagnodent uses a laser to scan the chewing surface of the teeth. This laser contains several wavelengths of light, one of which is fluorescent. Fluorescent light bounces off the cavity and goes back to the sensor which then converts the data into a numeric readout. The higher the number on the Diagnodent, the larger the amount of decay is present in the tooth. If the Diagnodent laser finds an actual cavity it will emit an audible sound. The use of this device enables the early detection of decay thus allowing for more conservative restorations.
Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA) – The STA system technology utilizes computer controlled local anesthesia delivery to enhance the injection process for the patient. The delivery system allows the dentist to deliver single tooth anesthesia without collateral numbing of the cheek, lip and tongue. This allows the patient to return to their normal routine faster after their restorative appointment.
TSCAN – The TSCAN Occlusal Analysis System is a diagnostic device that allows us to better analyze and adjust your bite and prevent problems. Optimally, all your teeth should come in contact with one another at about the same time and with equal force. When this does not happen, your occlusion is unbalanced and problems such as broken teeth and restorations, receding gums, loose teeth, facial pain, and grinding may result. A simple occlusal exam with the TSCAN system gives us the information we to need to determine and restore perfect balance to your bite. You simply bite down on a thin sensor and the computer displays the timing of contacts and levels of force in a dynamic movie. It will show your bite from beginning to end and all that is happening in between. This will allow us to immediately visualize problem areas while you are in the chair.
Kinetic Cavity Preparation (KCP) – The KCP allows the dentist to perform some cavity preparations without anesthetic. It uses a microscopically fine powder and a stream of air to whisk away decay. This is good news for patients who dread the anesthetic and also allows for a shorter appointment time. It allows for a smaller cavity preparation and a smaller restoration allowing the patient to retain as much of their tooth structure as possible.
The first step towards a beautiful, healthy smile is to schedule an appointment. Please contact our office by phone or complete an appointment request form online. Our scheduling coordinator will contact you to confirm an appointment.
